Ipswich Film Theatre is a wonderful cinema in the town centre showing foreign and art house films as well as some more main stream films. The tickets are reasonably priced as are the ice creams etc. I love the choice of films available and have enjoyed many films there.

We just saw North by Northwest from 1959. They get documentaries, foreign films and current ones a month or two later. The people who run it are passionate about films and you feel more like a part of a club then the big cinema complexes.

Went to the Ipswich Film theatre to see beasts of the Southern Wild which was a great film. This is a lovely venue. It has recently been decorated and looks great. Delightful basement auditorium. Probably does not show quite enough "general interest" films, although I do appreciate this is its raison detre. Wish we could have more general release films that we might have missed when on at local cinema complex.

Sometimes has more obscure films from the modern cinema that is a few blocks away. Worth checking if you want an evening out - see their web site. Is part of the Corn Exchange building that has other events such as concerts.

Shows a variety of independent and mainstream films, lots of leg room and comfy seats, right in the town centre. Brilliant.
