You cannot visit Oslo without visiting this museum! It's pity the politicians can't decide on a suitable home for these wonderfult paintings. Make sure to stop by the botanical garden right next to it if you visit in spring or summer.

I had already seen a selection of Munch's work at the National Gallery, but honestly, if an art gallery is going to name itself after Munch, I would think the majority of the pieces inside should be by Munch...even as a hobbyist art enthusiast, the airport-like security--metal scanner, xray machine, larger bags not allowed, and all--with really long queues was... My wife and i went to see the exibition "From Munch to Slettemark". My first experience was garbage outside the museum, pricelevel is high (180 nok for a couple). Sorry to say it but the discussion regarding new location, have influenced the the running museum in a negative direction. Poor maintenance, the staff are busy with their own things, not... More

It started at the ticket counter (NOK 95 for an adult), when the lady told us that "The Scream" was not on display, we could see it at the National Gallery. This is not corrects - because in the National Gallery is not this, but some other version. Then we had to pass a airport-like security gate to see almost... More

The museum is easily accessible by metro. Take whatever line and exit at Toyen station. 5 minutes walk from the metro. The entry fee is about 90 ( cca. 12 euro) Nok which is not cheap at all, but you are in the most expensive city in the world. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, they even can you... More

Not much to see in the Munch Museum. I was warned at the entrance desk (95 kr) that the Scream was not to be seen, but I wasn't coming only for that particular painting. There were about 5 Munch painting on show, the rest was "Modern Art" of a rather pathetic kind - a few paintings excepted. The museum shop... More

It seems that many of the reviewers are just hunting to see some versions of the famous Scream painting. If you are interested in the artist and like to see variety of his works, this is the place to visit. The museum building is not the biggest or greatest. When I visited the museum, I was almost the only visitor... More

The Munch Museum in Oslo shows excellent exhibitions in a rather worn down building. The lacj of real maintainance over the years really shows - the visitor toilets are for instance rather shabby, and in the exhibition rooms lack of space in some places make it difficult to see the exhibits clearly. But when all that has been said, it... More

The works on display are quite good and varied, artists that are contemporaries of Munch himself. This is interesting as it helps to understand his inspirations and influences. "The Scream" was not on show when I visited. You can see another version at the national gallery in Oslo though. There are some good works by Munch on show here like... More

The museum is well set out, so it easy to get around and see all of the art pieces without missing anything out. The introductory film on Munch's life is well worth seeing (in fact almost mandatory) However we were disappointed to see so few of Munch's work on display.
