We toured this imperial treasury last Saturday morning. They have typical historical crowns, jewels, mantles and robes that you normally see in royal treasuries. They also have quite a few interesting artifacts with a lot of legend behind them. Several items that were once believed to be unicorn horns (actually narhwal toooths), an item that was once believed to be... More

The Hofburg Palace complex is a complete tourist cash grab. There are separate (and expensive!!!) tickets for every little exhibit. I wonder how they justify that this is worth more than the entrance price of the entire Louvre!?! Yes there are some interesting and beautiful jewels, but why am I paying 12 euro to see this, then another 12 for... More

I had got a Sisi Ticket from Schloss Shonbrunn but it was not for here. Sisi ticket is for Hofmobiliendepot, Sloss Shonbrunn and Sisi meuseum-Imperial apartments not for the treasury; so I got new tickets. In this museum you should pay for Audio guide but the Audio guide is not very useful.

We found the Imperial treasury to be interesting but not a must see. There are some lovely crowns and embroidered capes and such, as well as many religious objects (which interest me less). Compared to the similar collection in Munich's Residenz, this was less impressive. If you're pressed for time, I'd choose the Austrian National Library over this which we... More

I loved it. Seeing Charlemagnes crown and the holy lance were facinating - especially with the audioguide telling you how importent the latter was in the middle ages. There were a lot of stuff connected to the order of the golden fleece and quite a few artifacts connected to Napoleon, like the cradle made for his son. I think the... More

In order to understand the 600 year rule of the Hapsburg family, there are certain things you must see and this is one of them. It is opulence beyond the scope of human belief. Do not do a tour with this. We saw them go past us and they were too rushed.

a lot of bling bling inside this museum... the imperial jewels and crowns are a must see, very intersting to understand a little on how these emperors and kings used to live.

I visited the Imperial Treasury (Schatzkammer) as part of my 5 full-day visit to Vienna and enjoyed it a lot, much more than I was expecting having just come from the nearby Imperial Palace (Hofburg) collection of museums which I found rather disappointing.... --- I am compiling an extensive Trip Advisor 'Trip List' for my visit to see the sights... Due to some reservations, we missed some important items, but we loved what we did see. One problem was lack of audio guides, so you might want to download what you can from iTunes if something is available. They gave us printouts of the guides, but it's hard to read and look at the same time.

After hearing about the treasury here, we were expecting it to be WAY better than the treasury in Munich (visited that in 2009). This was great but did not trump the latter. The jewels were good and they did have some *amazing* arms, coronation robes, and other vestments that were embroidered with gold, silver, and gems. There were some mindbendingly... More
