Beautiful and charming place, ambient and... music :) Some tickets are really cheap but can have limited visibility to stage so take a time to understand what type of tickets you buy.

This place ain't cheap, but if you can afford the time and money, it's just not a trip to Vienna without seeing an opera at this historic location. We were lucky to have 4 days here, and so we saw Barber of Seville, a light hearted Italian opera. What a great memory. On the seat back in front of you...

This is the one-most impressive opera house I have experienced. The guided tour is a must-the stage and supporting structure and personnel are extremely large and numerous. The multi-platform moving stage is 3 stories deep and 6 high, it appears. The street ticket hawkers in period costume are persistant but colorful. The giagantic tv screen outside on the east side...

easy to get in - walked right in and joined an English speaking tour. Tour was brief but saw a lot and learned a lot.
Now you can certainly pay a lot for great seats but we stood in line and got standing seats to Carmen for less than $5 USD. And it was wonderful! The opera house is beautiful. They also screen the operas outside the opera house live!
We lined up at 5:30pm for standing room tickets (4 euros) to see Don Quixote at 7pm. After purchasing the tickets, I would recommend going upstairs where you will have to wait in a second line to claim some standing room. We were inside by 6:10pm, the venue is beautiful and the ballet was fantastic, what an experience! Note: only...

I was lucky enough to get a ticket to see a production at the opera house. Mind you, I booked it in January for an April production. Even then, I was on the waiting list! So, if you are thinking of going, book early. The opera house itself is a thing of beauty, worth going to visit anyway. One of...

We were able to buy tickets in advance, online, for 11 euro. It was a new experience, sitting in a box on the second level. Small translation screens are provided, so we were able to be sucked into the drama and music. Better than taking a tour.
We saw Tosca during our stay. We were able to sit in the 5th row. The performance was wonderful. The building is also beautiful, so if you don't want to see a performance, the building itself is worth a visit. Interestingly they have a jumbotron outiside so you can watch a performance for free. The outdoor seating is limited so...
