The Cathedral is truly breathtaking, whether you are outside or inside the building. It is gorgeous, magnificent, and really makes you think how it was built! Definately a must see!
Very impressive church in the main square of Vienna. The front has been cleaned but there is scaffolding along the sides so that view is obstructed. The interior is very dark and the majority of the center of the church is blocked off. So the tourists can only go down the 2 side aisles. You can pick up your horse-drawn... More
You have to visit this building just for the architecture. Impressive. Even during mass you can come and go as you like.
St. Stephen's Cathedral in the heart of Vienna certainly merits a visit by any tourist to the city. Extensively re-built after WW2, its most notable features are the beautiful multi-coloured roof of glazed tiles and the many statues, reliefs and carvings of its interior. Built at a time when the cult of personality was frowned upon, one of its architects... More
They had the whole inside church blocked off so you could only see about 20 meters in the back of it. There weren't any stained glass windows in the back, just tiles. Go to the Dom in Cologne, it's much more beautiful. Or the Duomo in Milan.
Located right in the midst of the shopping district it stand out due to the architecture. The exteriors are grey and ok. Interiors are breathtaking with lovely art. More beautiful at night . We were lucky to attend a service with singers and music one night. What a beautiful feeling. Loved it.
It is the place to see- the cathedral with its gothic tower which you can visit, if you don't mind climbing the stairs. The view from above is well worth it! The fascinating is how the church built only one tower as they run out of money, and how well it was reconstructed after the 2nd WW bombing (on the... More
I have visited many churches and cathedrals ll over the world and the Catholic churches have very beautiful interiors. St Stephens was disappointing and appeared to me to be an ordinary church. I speak only of the decorations and not the comfort that church goers get.
when you go inside, you can see a very big space in which everything is sooo beautiful! At night, lights of different colours (as you can see in the pictures I have uploaded) makes it even more beautiful!!! I recommend to visit it at night and also in the morning Really recommended!
I've been to Stephansdom (as the Austrians call it) several times. It's a rather beautiful cathedral, that's for sure. It was of course destroyed to a large extend during the second war (it had 2 bell towers previously). The internal design is one of the most beautiful Gothic themed ones in central Europe. The cathedral stands in very the central... More
