Not a lot to see inside as although it's very well finished, it's in a very plain style, but if you are lucky enough to catch the organ playing you're in for a treat.
The trip up the tower gives great views over the city and the surrounding countryside (although on this trip the surrounding countryside was entirely masked by...

Hallgrimskirkja is I believe the tallest building in Iceland and is in the heart of the capital of Reykjavik. It costs very little to get a ticket to the top and once there you get the most incredible views of the entire city and all the wonderfully different colored roof tops and the mountain Esja. If you are there on...

A very modern Church visible from all points in downtown. You can take the elevator up for a great view of the city from the top. The inside of the chapel is very plain, with modern lines. There is a spectacular pipe organ there as well and we had the good fortune to be there when the organist was practicing...

Nothing like any church we have previously visited, beautiful for a "modern" church. Free to go in but a small fee if you want to go to the top (there is a lift) it is well worth the fee as the views from up there are great.
No organ practicing when I was there unfortunately, but stunning views from the top of the tower, absolutely worth a visit.
Striking and iconic building, a building you recognise immediately standing high above Reyjavik with impressive architecture. Great views from the tower. Simple but very powerful interior. Hearing the amazing organ played is an exceptional treat.
We went their twice a week apart and came upon interesting organ practicing both times so don't wait for a concert just have a seat, relax, and enjoy! You never know what you might find/hear!
What you think of this church probably depends on your view on modernist architecture. I usually prefer my churches on the ornate side, but the clean lines in the nave and the geometric beauty of the organ perfectly fit Reykjavik. When we went a soprano was singing in the nave accompanied by the organ and it showed off the acoustics...

Excellent views from the tower of Reyjkavik and surrounding mountains; also liked the history of Iceland on the plaques in the tower room.
