Apparently this bar had fed the protesters outside the bar and then allowed some of them to escape into the bar when the tear gas was released. The customers had a great view of the entire protest and the photographs were taken on that night as it was so important a historical event in Iceland.
Our bar man was also...

We stayed at The Borg next door to the Icelandic Bar in November 2012. It was a great place to meet up with friends.
The beer selection at the bar was very good, all sorts, something for everyone if you have the time in Reykjavik to try them all.
The menu was surprisingly extensive and pretty adventurous. We enjoyed the...

The waiter spent most of his time texting. We had to walk to the bar to get refills on water and...

A wonderful place with great staff.

Very reasonable prices compared to elsewhere in this expensive country and a great way to try some of the local food. Nice outdoor area too - great for people watching.
Islenski Barrin is located in the beautiful square in the heart of Reykjavik. The service was very fast, tha food was delicious, and prices were more than affordable. We enjoyed it very mush.
Fun bar and good, typical Icelandic fare. Very energized and very fun, friendly staff. Have been twice and enjoyed both times.
I really liked this place. We ate there two nights in a row in Reykjavik. Lots of traditional Icelandic food. You can read about my experience there, as well as my experience in Iceland, and see photos, on my blog heartisinlondon dot com.
