The Royal Armoury shows the history of Sweden’s kings and queens from the 15th century until to day.For almost five hundred years items once in the possession of Swedish monarchs and their families have been kept in the Royal Armoury. From generation to generation, they have built up an ever-expanding collection of memories from the country's different dynasties, evoking well-known events in Swedish history.See, for example, the costume worn by Gustav III at that fateful masked ball in 1792, Charles XII's muddy uniform from Fredriksten in 1718, and the blood-stained shirts and elk-hide buff coat worn by Gustav II Adolf at the Battle of Lützen in 1632. « less

If you have visited the Palace, show the people at the Armoury your ticket and you will get in for half price. This is the only part of the Palace complex where you are allowed to take photos. However, the lights inside are very dim. The Armoury is located in the basement of a building, but there is a lift... More

We skipped the royal palace and choose the royal amoury instead. This is a small but nice museum whee you can wath clothes and jewellery and impressive royal carriages. There is a kids room at the second floor where the kids can dress up as knights and princesses, read books or draw pictures. I had to drag my kids away... More

Unbelievably beautiful works of Swedish royal/military history. Worth the visit, even if you have to skip the palace itself.

It is a small museum, but the carriages and knight armours just blew me away. There was an exhibition on Queen Christina as well.

pretty stuff in there, but it really is a very small museum. I was in and out of there in like 15-20 minutes. - Info panels all in Swedish, English text only on laminated sheets (annoying) - Very little info on the items on display, just a name and a date. I'd love to know more of what it was... More

Here you will find the great relics of the kings from ca 1550 to modern times. There are lots of armour suits both for men, kids and horses. You will find presents from foreign rulers, lots of war booty and clothes kings wore when they were killed on the battle field (Gustavus Adolpus II - the guy who saved Germany... More

It is near the Royal Palace. Entry free with Stockholm card. Has a souvenir shop at the front and they give you a sticker. Nice collection of things. Nobody stopped us from photographing inside. Visit if you like armouries.

It is Sweden's oldest museum, The Royal Armoury (Livruwstkammaren) houses an impressive collection of magnificent swords, muskets, coronation robes, mounted knights, weapons of all sorts and state coaches and carriages. Certain displays had the wow factor.Streiff (the stuffed horse) ridden by Gustav II Adolph when he was killed in the battle of 1632 is one example. A glass jar preserves... More

A very exciting immersion in Swedish history. Good permanent and temporary exhibitions. Attractions include Gustavus Adolphus's charger and various garments etc. from the assassination of Gustav III at the masked ball in 1793.

There is a wonderful collection of royal carriages, weapons, and gowns. It is located below the Royal Palace and only took us about 30 minutes to go through.
