Calm, romantic and great view over the city. Avoid it on weekends because it's really crowded. If you go there on a spring week day, I'm sure you'll have a good time.
Definitely a must see - it's so beautiful. Walk the steps (pilgrimage) up to the church on top of the hill and enjoy the breathtaking city views of Braga below. The inside of the church is amazing.
This place is just amazing, the view, the sanctuary itself is very impresive, on the top of the hills, there is a beautiful cave and a very nice pond with the boats, excellent place to spend a few hours, must see if you're in Braga.
We climbed from the bus stop from town to the top - don't know how many steps there were but it was well worth taking the steps. There were wonderful view all the way up and several nice places at the top to stop for a drink. We took the funicular down, a bit rickety but it got us back...

We had spent...

Of course it is a place of religious worship. However, except this there is interesting architecture and very nice romantic park (adorable smal caves, ponds, bridges, etc). Definitely must see. Be aware - there is a lot of stairs (not all are accesible for pushchairs and wheelchairs).
We are not religious, but we have enjoyed visiting religious shrines all over the world. We were continuously told that if we're in Braga we must see this. It is a moss-covered series of stairways that lead past uninspiring sculptures in little huts too dark to see into until you reach a smallish chapel less interesting than almost any parish...
