We have been to Monte Palace garden a number of times over he years and it is up favourite garden in Madeira. It starts at the top of the hill with longs walks downhill. This does mean that you eventually have a long climb back up to get out so beware of you are not that fit. There are so... More

Although the park is quite nice and we spent at least 2 hours in it, it was not what I expected it to be. Madeira being the flower island, one would expect a lot more flowers in between the green of the garden, especially at the end of May. Nevertheless, the 10 EUR fee was not exaggerated, especially because you... More

Firstly, I LOVED the gem stone exhibition - Stunning! I also really enjoyed the exhibition of African carved stones - really unusual and interesting. We went to the gardens early in the morning and it was lovely and quiet and peaceful and stunning. Very very pretty and worth the entrance fee. I loved the cable car journey to the gardens... More

Very nice garden, every corner is different. Many steps, but you don't even watch them as everywhere is something interesting. Not crowded.

This meandering walk through beautiful flowers was not easy to navigate but well worth the extra effort. We attempted to follow the path but found ourselves lost a few times as the map needs updating. Clean air. Interesting photo stops. Delicious wine included in the admission price. Do visit the gemstones in the small museum. Clean restrooms. Friendly staff

In my opinion this is by far the best garden in Madeira and more than worth the 10 Euros entrance fee. It has it all, fabulous gardens, water features, museums, features. Cafe is very basic (ham cob and a coffee type) but you do get a free glass of Madeira there. Highly recommend. Allow 4 hours to get the full... More

Lovely gardens although we did find the map a bit hard to follw, easy going until you want to come out, then some of the hills can make you puff and pant, but don't let that put you off.

The gardens are really well kept and are a mass of colour, on a hillside so you need plenty of time sit and rest to enjoy the view over Funchal. A small café is also on site for light refreshments

lovely gardens, well worth a visit. Combine this with a journey up on the cable car, and a trip down in the toboggans, a little expensive (30 euros for two persons), but well worth it, great fun. Be aware that there is a gruelling 2K plus downhill walk afterwards. Makes a great day out despite this.
