This is purpose built, with only about 15% of Calouste collections. The best ones of course. We were told. The man had a eye for these things. I've been once with a friend. However this time we took the museum guide. Which enriched our experience with history and questions answered. You can learn more about the man himself with the guide,... More

The museum (what used to be a private collection spanning Egyptian times to 20th Century is not overwhelming. The exhibits are well spaced in each room. There islots to enjoy, including the Lalique collection.

The Gulbenkian is an attractive, modern museum which focuses on ancient and Oriental art, along with European art up till about 1850; its collection of such objects is surely impressive. However, there is not much from 1850 onward, though the art nouveau jewelry was unique. Nevertheless, it is probably the best art museum in Lisbon, and is worth a visit.

We spent a nice 2 hours. The museum doesn't have anything like the Louvre or the British museum or other top ones but still very enjoyable. A lot of "niche" kind of arts and relics.

A wonderful museum near Sao Sebastian subway stop. It makes a perfect visit since it´s not too big. There is a wonderful Turkish tile collection, as well as Rembrandt and other paintings. We were fortunate to get tickets to an evening symphonic performance of Mendelssohn's "A Midsummer Night´s Dream". There is a wonderful music auditorium within the buildings.

The Gulbenkian shows all highlights or art. It is small but with a great surrounding: the view on the park in the background gives an extra dimension to the art which is displayed. The Museum is not expensive and well worth visiting.

Don't miss it, fantastic collection of the best of the best in Western and Middle Eastern art, but not huge. Well presented.

The exhibits and artworks are an eclectic mix as you would expect but the quality was a surprise. My wife particularly loved the Lalique Art Nouveau jewellery and bowls.
