Unfortunately, as others have said, this church is undergoing a massive restoration. You can pay to pick you way round or just stand at the back for free. We were surprised that with all the dust and debris and workman walking around in hard hats, old paintings were still hanging on the walls and the statue was in its place.... More

We went to visit yesterday (18th May 2013) and found we could only walk into the back of the church. The whole floor had been taken up so we could only peer through a wire fence. I realise this is a little unfair to mark as poor because we didn't get a chance to see anything. Nowhere did we see... More

The sight that everyone goes to see is the small Michaelangelo statue. However, of more interest are the painted crypts that you can peer down to from the main floor and the tombs of Mary of Burgundy and Charles the Bold. They are life size copper tombs of Charles in his armor, but gloves lying to the side. Mary's tomb... More

You can see this tower from all around the city and it helped me navigate my way around more than once. It's currently under restoration, so you can't see the Caravaggio (or School of Caravaggio) very well, but you can see it. The altar with its tombs and magnificent triptych is fully visible and awe-inspiring. I have to say I... More

The only thing worth seeing in this cathedral is the Michelangelo sculptor of Madonna and Child. It is the only piece of his sculptors outside of Italy. However, the owners have chosen to move it from a tourist friendly, photo accessible location to a remote place far away and behind glass. One cannot appreciate the beauty of the work, unfortunately.

I loved this church; you walk in and can immediately feel the history. Even if your not into churches, like my boyfriend, this is one to be seen and explored. I loved the Michelangelo and is how I got my boyfriend inside, he usually waits outside for me. He enjoyed the visit as much as I did. Don’t hesitate, the... More

This church has the highest tower in Bruges and the tower is said to exceed 100 metres, and I believe it. It maintains the mediaeval character of the church. The church was built between the 13th and the 15th century. Much of the church is built in the mediaeval Gothic style but parts of the church were built in Romanesque... More

The majority of the interior was gutted. I wanted to see the Michelangelo statue of Madonna and Child which is normally free to see, but they were charging $3 each to go in and see the small area not under construction.

Worth it for the statue alone. The church was in total disarray, a mess. The choir area very nice and the front of the church quite unique. Beautiful Madonna and Child statue. Do not miss. Cough up the 2 Euros for the donation.

One of the few Michelangelo statues outside Italy - not to be missed. Renovations currently going on in the cathedral but still a lot to see.
