Amazing! Not quite the louvre, but in that direction. Suggest buy a ticket on line. You may still need to wait getting physically in from outside but avoid long inside ticket buying line.

Sadly Dutch government goes only for money making museums like Rijksmuseum that cost lots more than calculated. Now suddenly they have no money to keep this open. This is very sad and hope we can stop this. There is a petition on their website that you can sign to keep it open and please help to sign this

An excellent information and artifacts collection from the tropical colonies. The Dutch was one of the great explorer in the Age of Discovery. This museum contains all information, including rare collections of cultural artifacts. A wonderful and enlightening museum.

Ethnographic museum with a strong focus on former Dutch colonies. Very well done exhibitions to capture the interest of visitors of all ages. Great place to visit with children on a rainy day!

So many interesting exhibits and a great selection of international artefacts. Many really good videos or clips of old films. Needs a day to see everything

Material culture of former Dutch colonies (South America, Indonesia, Caribbean, Africa), displayed in an interesting, modern format. I spent three hours there. Nearby is the zoo.

We came to the museum as had heard such great reviews but seriously must have missed something as we all left after about 40mins feeling thoroughly bored and glad to get out. Our kids (11,8 & 4) looked at a few things but weren't overly interested (which wasn't the case in some other museums). We asked about going into the... More

The huge, colorful, interactive museum is very impressive and interesting, and some of the visions will definitely have an impact on you and won't leave your imagination. However, it felt as though it wasn't organized/ordered well enough, so the vast amount of information and impressions just mixed up and blurred at the end of the tour. In addition, many complicated... More

Tropenmuseum is great for kids. The programs are interactive and very exciting and educational. Beautiful building on the inside. Good expo's. The only thing that needs improvement is the restaurant. It's expensive and the choices are very limited. I visit with my kids every few months and the still find it interesting and fun!
