This is really a stately Amsterdam canal. The typical richman's homes facing the canal have elaborate facings, large windows and interesting entrance doors. During the golden ages the rich merchants lived here, and they really exhibited their wealth. Just be careful whilst strolling along the canals, it is easy to walk into a bike-rider or even.... fall into the canal... More

On our two days in Amsterdam, we walked Prinsengracht from the Train Station to the Museum on both days and if would have done it the third day as well if we were there. The walk is so peaceful because of the canals and the beautiful architecture along the way. If you want to look away from that for a... More

The fours canals including Prinsengracht are just as beautiful until I cannot really tell them apart. The canals defines Amsterdam and day time and night time have totally different views altogether. Great area for people watching (especially those on bicycles) and street photography. Remember to say hi to those on the boats!

When we got off the train we were hit by a wall of weed and sex shops. We didnt expect it right out of the station. When we found the anne frank house and prinsengracht we loved how quiet and awesome it was. The locals on their bikes zipping by looked like a constant moto gp race

Stayed here for a week, last week. Perfect place to come back and relax after a hectic Museum day. Has restaurants, bruin cafes, sandwich shops, supermarket everything! And only a very short walk to all the attractions.

A beautiful canal. Stroll along on a sunny day and sit and let the world go by as you drink a coffee in one of the many cafes. Such a relaxing city!

We walked along the canal from near the train station through the Jordaan to the museum district. Very peaceful and a lovely area to stroll. Stopped for some lunch and a glass of wine, then watched as the people of Amsterdam floated by on all kinds of vessels on this lazy Sunday afternoon. Just great.

We stayed at the Pulitzer located on this canal street. Strolling here gives you a nice taste of old Amsterdam architecture. It's nearby the Jordaan that is loaded with shops, cafe's and restaurants.

We were spending the week-end in Amsterdam and I was determined to bring cheese home back to the states. There are several cheese shops located all around Amsterdam and in the department stores, which are very good, a bit pricey, but again, the same brand shop is all over. I shouted w glee when we ran into the Cheese Museum,... More
