Went in late March 2013. Had exhibits of old Dutch paintings, as well as many other. Some were more on the dark side, which I thought were great and a great switch. Would recommend to all who visit.

wonderful art museum, terrible service in restaurant, overpriced and long wait for food - don't recommend eating there, see the art and then go explore the city for a bite to eat.
I recently went to view the Nordic Art collection. The museum itself has interesting architecture and has a great location just by the train station. The collection was quite long and interesting and featured some wonderful pieces. It was really a very pleasant afternoon. Definitely is a solid museum to visit if you're in the area and looking to soak...

the museum itself is a work of art. Take your time to explore every corner. Also the exhibitions were versatile and worth a visit.
It is always a very nice to visit Groningen. The Museum is really special. The architecture amazingly, and the art is food for the soul! the food in the restaurant is nice, and the exhibitions mostly worhtwhile to undertake the train journey of almost 3 hours from The Hague to Groningen.!!
I visited on a rainy day, and found the museum exhibits to echo the architecture; interesting and a little quirky. I enjoyed the traditional Dutch painters, but found the special artist, Marc Bijl, to be a little self indulgent. Most of his pieces were thought provoking, but the piles of gravel were just not my thing. In addition, I enjoyed...

There was an exhibition of Nordic Art on at the time we were there. It is not to be missed. Fantastic
This modern (built in the 1990s) museum is worth a journey to Groningen, if only to see the building itself. The current exhibit of Nordic painting is breathtaking in its scope (artists from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) and beautifully displayed. Do not miss.
