We reached after closing time, so I'm not sure about the rest. Overall I'd recommend not more than 15 minutes outside to take pictures. kids usually have fun with the numerous fountains behind the broken chair. If you are expecting lots of restaurants or stores nearby, you will be disappointed.

If you're at all interested in politics this is an absolute must - but the building itself and all the artwork is too impressive to miss. Some reviewers appear to have given misleading information about cost and types of visit - to plan your visit use the official website www.unog.ch In May 2013 the guided tour cost 10 Swiss francs... I had no preconceived ideas about what this visit would entail. I joined a guided tour (available in different languages) and found there to be a lot of information about the premises, the role of the UN and how it operates worldwide. It was very interesting and I would say would appeal to anyone but not so much for children.

Attended a conference as an observer - would like to visit more of the site. Been told to try the Library overlooking the lake.

I was in UN Palais des Nations due to my professional appointment. But the site is accessible for any visitor (just be patient when applying for the access badge). The Palais provides a unique atmosphere of the place where the world politics were woven for many decades (not always successfully); but - despite of any hesitations - you will probably... More

If you're in Geneva, you surely have to see the birthplace of the UN. The tour was informative, engaging and interesting, the guide clearly knew his stuff. At a fraction under 1hr, it was long enough to see the main rooms and artwork etc, and to get a feel of the place, but not too long to be boring. Our... More

Very interesting tour, beutiful pieces of art, highly interesting architecture, symbolism in meetings rooms. Should be a must for everybody coming to Geneva, it really brings the UN world and issues close to those who are not politically very involved or internationally educated.

Only had an afternoon in geneva so we decided to do this tour. It only took one hour but you need to have half an hour before you get there. Walk from tram takes 10-15 mins but you have to take pictures at the broken chair and the entrance. You go in a side entrance up the hill, as others... More

I wasn't sure beforehand how good this would be but you really feel a sense of awe at the conference rooms of the UN. Our guide was extremely enthusiastic and made it all very interesting. The 1930s part of the building was great, with lots of art deco features. Absolutely loved the stunning ceiling in one of the rooms. It's... More

The Palais des Nations is easily reached by the number 15 tram - it's at the end of the line - and the UN building itself is a 5/10 minute walk up the hill, past the sculpture garden and just past the point where you think you've missed it. You need a passport to enter and can only go round... More
