At first I questioned paying such a fee to climb stairs, but I'm so glad we did. The views are spectacular over Il Campo and the surrounding areas 360 degrees. It's a tight climb, so you are not allowed to bring anything with you other than a camera. Tall people - like my husband - need to watch their heads... More

Great views from the top. The climb is mostly inclosed and better than I expected the beginning after ticket purchase and bag drop is step and narrow but that doesn't last very long. People of all ages were enjoying the tower.

We read in our 'Italy- Lonely Planet' book that we should make the stair hike to the top for fabulous views of Siena. It will not disappoint! While the wait can be long, we preferred the limit of people in the tower opposed to how many people we encountered on top of Florence's duomo views. It's beautiful--don't pass it up.... More

The climb to the top was fun, well worth the 8 Euros per person and the views are incredible. Go up it then come back down and have a gin and tonic in the square. Really good fun and if you visit Siena, this is an absolute must.

In an area filled with ancient towers, this has to be one of the most magnificent. Set right on the main Piazza del Campo you'll climb hundreds of steep stone stairs to gain access to a view that feels like you are flying over the city and the whole of Tuscany. Best time to go is early morning or even... More

It's a hike up, but well worth it. 360 degree views of Siena and surrounding countryside. It's tight stairwells at the top. Wear comfortable shoes. We saw many women carrying their high heels on the way down:) Make sure you climb all the way to the top because there are several platforms near the top you can stop off for... More

There are over 400 steps. The steps are narrow and are spiral. Breathtaking views from up top. This bell tower has been around for so long that the museum was built around it, Get the combo ticket for the museum, the tower, the cathedral, and all the surrounding attractions. If you are a bit claustrophobic the steps can be bothersome.... More

You earn your views of Siena and its surroundings when you climb to the top of ths tower located at Il Campo. You have to wait in line awhile even in the off season. I cannot imagine the wait in the summer. A good value.

For 8 Euros we got to climb 400 steps to the top of this 800 year old bell tower. It is worth it for the views and is more fun than doing the same climbing on a Stairmaster in the gym! I was able to take some beautiful photos, which have added to the already beautiful memories of this city.... More

This is a very good piece of architecture located on the Piazza Del Campo. You definitely can't miss it when entering the piazza. The following was taken from an external source. Built in 1338-1348, it is located in the Piazza del Campo, Siena's premier square, adjacent to the Palazzo Pubblico (Town Hall). When built it was one of the tallest... More
