We were lucky enough to visit this building when one of the employees demonstrated very tunefully the amazing acoustics of the building. One tuneful call set up a reverberation of echoes which sounded like a complete oratorio. Also there is a marble pulpit carved by Pisano and the font that Galileo was baptised in. It is worth climbing the 71...

Glad we took the time to climb up to the upper level for great views of the interior and also of the surrounding buildings and the opportunity to photograph them, much better than paying the high price or the vies from the tower. Beautiful, huge and highly decorated font. The 4 x entry ticket for 9 euros allows you to...

We booked a guided tour (at an extra 2 euros) to both the Duomo and the Baptistry. REALLY good value. The guide brought the whole place to life. Don't miss the demonstration of the echo which seems to take place every 30 minutes - and the good view of the front of the Duomo from the gallery.
Saw this, Fierenze and Siena's. This was THE most outstanding. With a multi-visit ticket to it, the Duomo etc. even the kids we had in hand enjoyed seeing all the sites.
It's really impressive on the outside, an amazing component of the whole assemble (together with the tower and the cathedral). However, interior did not astonished me. Paid 5EUR for the visit and had regrets it afterwards. It's quite simple, not much to see. The most interesting thing was acoustics-the echo is really strong.
Even more beautiful on the outside than on ithe inside, the admission is only 2€ so go see it. It is very big inside but surprisingly plain and lacks decoration.
Simple interior but awesome tower ultimately with wooden dome roof. Climb to gallery to look down to altar. Every 30 mins, a choir voice sings with the echo reverberating around the tower.
The largest baptistry in Italy. I though it was really impressive. Went upstairs with 2 little boys as well. The acoustics are really amazing.
