For us foriegners who non parlo Italiano Lucia Montuschi spoke very good English there was not the hard to understand English of some of the larger tours. Lucia was very fluent and a delight to listen to with her Italian accent. Her knowledge of the corridor and it's amazing collection of paintings was fabulous, to us mere mortals Lucia has... More

I don't do tours, I hate tours, tours make me nervous as I'm claustrophobic and make me feel trapped....what could be better than a tour of a mile long hallway.....decided to do this as a present for a friend's birthday, I was very leery about a 'private tour' as they are never private, rest assured, THIS IS PRIVATE. there were... We booked a tour with Florencetown to see the Vassari Corridor. Our tour guide, Mario, was very interesting and made the art work come to life. Within 10 minutes he knew everyone by name. He was partnered with a woman who had her Phd. in Art History. She was a wealth of information and very willing to answer any questions.... More

Mario was our fabulously earnest and conscientious guide through the corridor. Guarded fore and aft by museum staff he swept us through this amazing collection of self portraits. Whilst I can admire the singularity of his enthusiasm and of this collection, I felt that he needed to be mindful that not everyone would have been there just for the art.... More

We booked a 3.5hr combined Uffizi Gallery and Vasari Corridor tour with Caf Tours. The actual tour is run by a company called Exclusive Connections with the fabulous guide Lucia. Having very little knowledge of art, we were a little concerned it might be a bit over our head. Lucia is so genuinely enthusiastic, you end the tour wanting to... More

OK , wrap up well - it's ten degrees cooler in the Vasari Corridor and pervasively damp . Probably on a sunny day I would have enjoyed it more , but the truth is that most of the famed collection of self-portraits is second-rate and badly hung - and you have to fear for their preservation in this atmosphere .... It is not easy to get inside the Vasari Corridor - the Medici didn't intend many people outside of their family to cross from their Old Palace (Palazzo Vecchio) to their new larger home - The Pitti Palace - on the South side of the river (Oltrarno) - the entrance and indeed the path of the corridor itself, is easy... The Vasari corridor is a must see if you can find a guide with special access privilege. It will cost you more but it is worth the fee. Traveling over the Ponte Veccio, like the nobles, while folks walk beneath you unaware of your presence is quite an interesting feeling. The art is solely self portraits by some of the... More

Once we read about this tour, we knew we wanted to take it. First, I called the Uffizi for information only to be told that the corridor was closed and had been for some time. I was also told by them that there may be other companies that do the tour but it wasn't possible to book it within Italy.... More

Mario Gesù from FLORENCETOWN guided and educated a small group through selected works in the Uffizi before entering the Vasari corridor. The passageway, built for Cosimo di Medici to travel without an escort from the Pitti Palace above the Ponte Vecchio to the Uffizi, houses artists' self-portraits. A place for amazement at historical continuity and reflection, then as now, above... More
