Took bus 13 from Firenze SMN, as had to drop off suitcases. Bus ride very rickety and round the houses! When we arrived, view was spectacular, and particularly breathtaking. Wish I could have returned to see it at sunset. Look for the English artist at the bottom of the steps as you head back to River Arno, some beautiful handcrafted...

My husband and I meandered up the easy hill and were delighted by the view and the general atmosphere of playful wine drinkers, picnic folks and couples. We bought a 6€ bottle of chianti from the street vendor & sipped into sunset. Breathtaking view with a street performer strumming away in a happy crowd of people.
a bit of a walk, but nothing crazy. However, it is also a hike to the top. Bring euros to buy some of the cheaper touristy items if you are wanting to buy any. Amazing views, great atmosphere, music, free. Go!
absolutely stunning panam views. So much fun to single out the major landmarks from the top. dont forget to combine the beautiful basilica di san miniato with this.
2nd visit there, perfect view of Florence, and the surrounding area. Perfect for taking pictures, you see alot of brides getting their wedding photos done.
One evening during our stay in Florence my boyfriend and I (who have been backpacking around Europe) decided to set out to the Piazzale Michaelangelo to catch the sunset over the city. There was a lot of untidy scaffolding around the statue, however the scenery of Florence was worth the walk.
Take a taxi up to the Piazzale Michelangelo for a beautiful view of the city and river bridges. For pictures, morning would be better as most good views are to the northwest and the sun can create a strong backlight in the afternoon.
Take the 12 or 13 bus up the hill. The asphalt hill is packed with folks enjoying their happy hour cocktails purchased from the street cart.
