yes, it's quite a big queue- about an hour seems to be average, but when you get inside, it's not mobbed with people, and quite spectacular. worth it.

One cannot travel to Florence without seeing the original David. It is amazing. Try to book tickets to the Accademia in advance as otherwise the line for entry is very long. Only 4 euros additional per entry for the reservation. With a confirmation number you collect your tickets and pay in cash.

The museum was nice but of course the highlight of the trip was David. I highly recommend reserving in advance and avoiding the long lines. Looking at David is so incredible for so many reasons, the size, the features, the symbolism, etc. a must see in florence
A must see in Florence BUT get your tickets reserved online or you will be there for hours. Not much else to see there unless you are an art aficionado.

So much better 'in the flesh' than seen on a postcard or photo. I was enraptured - and will never forget the experience.
great wonder by a master who knew anatomy so well ..... the veins stand out so beautifully and the nails are done so well on the feet !
