Marina Grande is where your adventure begins in Capri. Whether you want to sail around the island on a private boat, or shop along the spiraling narrow streets for a one of a kind souvenir, or if you want to venture down a narrow path of the Gods, and lets not forget the famous Funicular that will drop you off... If you come to Capri for only one day, be sure to take the funicolare up to Capri town. Do not only stay at marina grande, they only offer average snack bar foods and "cheap" souvenirs.

For capri, nothing to attract you here. The only place on the island where people come hassle you to come eat, drink, take tours. With the exception of l'approdo restaurant avoid.

Its the in and out of Capri, so its going to be hectic!! These ferries dumping 100's of passengers out every half hour, yes its going to be chaos. But while you wait, goto the left and paddle in the water, but beware of using the private beach, you have to go further over. But its still better than Dover,... More

I visited Capri with family in April. The Marina Grande is where you land when coming by boat to the island. It is busy but quite picturesque. There are places to shop and eat, as well as local transport options around the island.

The port for boats and ferries watching, busy during the summer months, crowds in the thousands, holding the itinerary on one hand, definitely making up their mind going places. Great places for people watching, one can sit at a terraced cafe for the exact purpose of idling time and hours. Ristorante here is slightly cheaper, and it goes with the... More

Hydrofoil doesn't run when windy and rough water. "Fast boats" are other option. Try to sit on top deck for best views.

the first impact you get when arriving with the hydrophoill, the many little coloured fisher houses that welcome you upon arrival. and then yes, many boats and ships, lots of people meeting and greetings, arriving and leaving. very impressive little look on Capri.

See one you have seen them all. lots of low quality shops and very bussy. however if you are willing to pass all the mess, go to the visitors harbour and you can have a relaxing and peacefull stroll looking at nice boats.

You arrive here by ferry from Sorrento, so cannot avoid. It was crowded with people pushing, taxis & buses trying to sell you their trips. We headed straight out of it & went to the "centro" via a long steep climb through lovely lanes.
