Visited some time ago. Used to be the Church used by Royalty. No longer but still is beautiful. It is close to the Palacio de Oriente and the Teatro Re4al.

just lovely a must see. Traveling through Europe, seeing a lot of Churches can sometimes create desensitization but the churches in Spain are each different enough from all the others to appreciate completely for their own features & history.

The opening hours seem designed to annoy and frustrate, but this is worth a look if its open and you're nearby. The outside is slightly shabby but still impressive, but it's more impressive inside.

One of the most beautiful interiors of a building I have ever seen. A true marvel. The most impressive thing we saw in Madrid. Not much to look at from the outside...but the inside will blow you away.

A very beautiful and grand church in Madrid, this is very near to the Royal Palace and hence both can be covered together in Half day.

The architecture of the Real Basiica de San Francisco el Grande is wonderful and I always enjoy visiting this church when I am in Madrid. It is a short walk from the church to the Royal Palace. The interior of the church is very beautiful.

This is the royal basilica of Francis the Great, built around a circular floor plan with seven chapels, with many paitings by famous masters. Limited opening hours. When I went: 11 - 12:30 am and 4 - 6:30 pm, closed on Mondays. Admission was € 3, with guide. After payment you can go in (you cannot see anything of the... More

We visited numerous churches whilst in Madrid, but glad we took the time to walk to this one, the interior took our breath away. You enter into a vast space, with an extremely impressive dome and all the ceilings around the Basilica were very ornate.
