The Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia are amazing, but overwhelming. See one artist's work, and see it on the mansion where he lived in downtown Madrid. Not to be missed.

I teach art history and bring my students here every summer. Sorolla is a quintessentially Spanish painter whose subjects are light, warm and appealing. The museum is in his home, a garden oasis in the city, offering insights into his work and life as visitors wander through the family's rooms and his studio. It's beautiful!
This was a little tricky to find but worth the trip. A very peaceful place with a impressionistic painter and all the original furnishing. Very pleasant garden and audio guide.
We loved this museum. We went with a private tour guide. She explained a lot of history behind the paintings. I loved that the museum is in his actual house. Beautiful little garden before entering. Beautiful paintings and furniture.
This is the house wher Joaquin Sorolla lived while in Madrid. It is very well worth the visit, both historically and artictically.

The garden is sumptuous! Fountains trickle into tiled pools and the scent of roses overcome you as you wander into the garden. Check out...

Lovely museum in Joaquin Sorolla's house. Relatively quiet compared to The Prado & Sofia museum making it a much relaxing visit! His paintings are superb. Not to be missed while in Madrid!
Never heard of Sorolla before, and really impressed by the joy and movement of his pictures, beautifully hung in his former house with its lovely garden. Audio guide was out of batteries so I had to use the free booklet which was very informative. A good idea to have the audio guide or the book to help you into the...
