Follow the CAMINO is a disastrous organisation. They are very disorganised. El CAMINO itself is wonderful but do not travel with this company. Do it directly and find accommodation as you travel. It is easier and one tenth of the price charged by Followthecamino charlatans.

this was well worth the 10 euro pilgrim rate. Six o clock in the evening ... magnificent views of the city from the cathedral roof

A must see. Every mass was full with people coming an hour early just to get a seat. We also caught the botafumeiro at one of the masses which was a highlight. If you don't know what I am talking about, check it out on you tube.

This cathedral totally dominates the pretty town of Santiago. It is immense and well worth a visit. It is also worth visiting the City Museum, where you will find n overview of the stages of its development. The pilgrim's mass each day at noon is also worth attending, even if not a pilgrim.

After walking more than 30 days I have a nice experience in this Cathedral and it is worthy visiting it at least once.

The facade is a baroque work of art; it resembles an altar -as it was the background for Masses celebrated in the open plaza below. The building's interior is more somber. Try to be there for a Mass when the "Botafumeiro" is being used.

We arrived in Santiago de Compostela on Friday afternoon and made our way to the Cathedral. As an individual, entrance is free, but as a group, entrance is 7 Euros each. The column where you could put your hand in the grooves of millions of previous Pilgrims is now fenced off (does anyone know why?). and the queue for touching... More

This awesome Romanesque cathedral with its impressive Baroque facade and towers contains the remains of St James the apostle. This is what pilgrims walking "El Camino" for the past 1100 years or so came to see and venerate. Entering Santiago as a pilgrim, after many long arduous days of walking under severe weather conditions and finding yourself in front of... More

This was one of the best, if not the best part of our trip to Spain. The cathedral was awesome and so was the town. It was so beautiful and uplifting to set foot in such a historic church.

Santiago de Compostela had flown under my radar. Don't overlook it because it is one of the most memorable historic sites. As with many European sites there is scaffolding around as parts of it are restored but these hardly detract from a built form that is varied in character from one side to the next with the golden lichen clad...
