This medieval city oozes charm! The Nightwatchman tour is a must! So much to see and do here. And most of the stores are open on Sunday - which is unusual in Germany.

Rothenburg really is lovely. People really do live within the walls - nice, welcoming people who accept the tourism in their town. For every overrun street there's another empty little one to escape to. The view down to the Tauber is gorgeous. Don't skip it just because it's touristy!

Fun, instructive and a beautiful way to see the city at night. The watchman was funny and allowed us to hear his words despite the large group. Our adult children did the tour first and were so enthusiastic about it, we decided to sigh up.

Many tour bus loads of tourist come here as well as smaller groups off the river boats docked in Wurzburg. Yet, it still is a wonderful experience. I loved Rothenburg. I heard it was really touristy and it was. We stayed the night so once the tour buses left the town was ours. We ate a wonderful dinner, took the night watchman tour and stopped at a bakery for a snack before bed. It was a charming town and should not be missed.
