A town over from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you will find Grainau, a small beautiful town at the base of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. I recommend you visit the Zugspitze Hotel, family owned, with great bar service and comfy dining rooms. Beautiful decor also.
