I'm afraid of heights and the slippery 2 foot wide ledge was not my thing so do not waste the $6 to walk this if you suffer from this issue.

During a marriage retreat in Garmisch, we had family time and decided to walk the gorge. It was a beautiful spring morning and it had been an easy winter. The gorge was absolutely beautiful! It was a great walk through waterfalls and dark caves. At times it was so dark I had to use my cell phone flashlight to get...

We have only been to the gorge in the winter and it was incredible! The frozen waterfalls are so neat. The walk through the caves can be rather dark at times, so bring a flashlight. Wear shoes with good tread because it gets extra slippery in the winter months. I would not suggest trying to bring a stroller, because the...

We arrived in garmisch over the weekend of March 9/10 the gorge is closed due to unseasonably warm weather. It says it will be closed till May. Apparently the warm weather is causing all the ice to melt & making for very hazardous conditions.
We arrived late, around 4:30pm and hired a carriage to take us to the start. This was February and it was very cold, but we had a great time hiking along The Edge and seeing the ice everywhere. We all got some great photographs of the water and ice.
Wow, I toured this at night and then again the next morning. Unbelievable! Every turn showed an even more awesome view.

This is Germany's only beautiful natural area. And it's lovely. I would happily recommend it to anyone'
To get there you need to walk (with normal speed) ca. 25 min from the parking next to ski jump. You just need to follow Wildenauer Strasse. The walk could be quite boring - at least it was boring for my 5 years old son, who was busy with almost everything apart from walking on the way there, so it...
