Very historic building with a great restaurant. Located near a beautiful church and many shops. Within walking distance of the Neckar River and other tourist sites.
The location was perfect because it was located directly in the market place and very close to the castle. I had a nice view of the church and marketplace from my window as well. The rooms were average overall. The internet was not cheap as well. Overall, I would stay there again if visiting Heidelberg.
The location could not have been any better. The castle was a 10 minute walk. The rooms were very bare and nothing exciting.
Selected this place for a business dinner for a group of 8 people. We had various dietary requirements. Some wanted Game meat, couple were vegan, one Muslim and so on. :-) they catered to all of our requirements very efficiently. The taste of the food itself was not all that great but it was not bad either. Its an elaborate... More
Sorry to have to pan this venerable hotel, but our recent 4-day stay in 3 different rooms was not pleasant. The location is great in the heart of tourist Heidelberg, but the hotel is simply too noisy. All 3 of our rooms opened onto an airless, pigeon-infested air shaft that connected to the dish room of the restaurant. They did... More
We choose a suite for the new year's eve weekend and it was fantastic! We had an entirely separate sitting area with couch and desk. The TV could swivel so you could choose to watch from the sitting room or the bed. The bathroom was huge and very modern with a heated towel rack and a pleasant walk-in shower. The... More
The weather was hot and the hotel is not airconditioned. It was essential to keep the windows opened. The best rooms face the street with the Cathederal immediately opposite. The bells chime every quarter hour and go into frenzy at midnight. Add to that the noise from inebriated tourists in the wee small hours and the restrauant guests dining outside... More
After 2 years, my wife and I could not resist returning to the Ritter even knowing it has no air conditioning. But despite the heat wave, it was fine because we had windows to open on 2 corners of the room. Location is wonderful in the center of the Altstadt old town. The waiters and waitresses in the restaurant are... More
One of the most interesting hotels I have stayed in. This is the oldest building in Heidelberg, not burned down by the French centuries ago, as the owner was a friend - dates from late 1500s. Nicely appointed, but if you have a front room, you will have trouble sleeping - you are right in the centre of the tourist... More
