Of our short time in Lyon this past summer, a morning long stroll through this neighborhood is quite possible our fondest memory. The old architecture, streets and open-air vendors are exactly what you're picturing. We dedicated 3 or 4 hours, and by the end of that time, we'd seen everything we wanted to see, gone into every shop that interested... More

If you are in Lyon, a visit to the older section is a must do, but it is the usual cluster of tourist bistros and a few tourist shops. It is good for an afternoon or evening and convenient to reach from the more central tourist area between the two rivers. I prefer the hotels, restaurants and shops in that... More

Several years ago there were plans to demolish the old buildings in Vieux Lyon (or Old Lyon) and replace them with modern buildings. Fortunately these plans came to nothing and now the area is a thriving area of restored buildings, small shops and restaurants as well a providing social housing. The main cathedral is located in Vieux Lyon. On Sundays... More

There are few sites and attractions in the old town of Lyon, but walking around, was very relaxing and nice... admire the beautiful colorful buildings, pass through the secret passageways, try Lyonnaise food in one the many bouchons, visit the cathedral and the museums. More

Not much to see. Not much atmosphere. Old Nice is much better. More

Lyon's old town is a great for a Sunday, afternoon, many bistros and bouchons open and thriving. Enjoyed having a huge delicious meal and wakling around the narrow streets looking into shops. Especially liked the cinema and miniatures museum. Definitely recommend. More

Is the third largest city in France, but comparable to the bauty of Paris. Has two rivers running throught his center and they knew how to use the landscape on the riverbanks. Is the city of motion outdoor: you have what to see, where to walk or ride a bike! It was beautiful for me! More

A local guide will enhance your visit to Lyon. There are some amazing places like rue le boeff where instead of letterboxes statues were used to identify the residents. Also the traboules are amazing but you need a guide to show you all of them More

Easy to get to on the underground or by bus, the old quarter of Lyon has quaint old streets and plenty of boutique shops, bars and restaurants. As ever, many are geared for the tourist bit that's inevitable. Nevertheless, certainly one of the 'must sees' of any visit to Lyon. More

Not to be missed. Spend a few hours wandering in and out of the alley-ways, up the stairs, through the narrow streets - there are definitely some tourist-traps afoot, but the majority of the shops and cafes do actually cater to the locals, especially in the off-season. Lots of photo opportunities, lots of great little cafes, and a number of... More
