This private park on the Fier river was built with walkways for tourists in the 1890s. The drive out from Annecy is only a gentle 40 minutes, and full of lovely view of alpin farms and towns. One can approach from the south or north, - I recommend the northern route through the town of Lovagne. TIP: Pack a picnic... More

We were looking for a short trek to enjoy the nature around Annecy. Found this site on tripadvisor and was worth the visit. Of course it did offer some breath taking views of the gorges du Fier and some insights of how the rocks are shaped etc, but it is short and perfect if you have kids and cannot do... More

This isa nice way to spend the afternoon, if you want to get away from the city of Annecy and explore the surrounding area. The easiest way to get to the gorge, would be to drive from Annecy. We rented a car for the day at a Hertz Rental, near the train station, which allowed us to venture from the... More

We loved it. The beauty and the power of nature could be felt there... The mix of colors was great. Can be a bit scary for young kids and the elderly. If you are not too scared of hight, go for it!!

We wanted to go for a short afternoon hike to experience the beauty of french alps. Its a short and well maintained walkway along the cliff with the river gushing down below. Perfect for families with small children who cannot plan longer hikes or treks. A baby carrier is provided for infants since the narrow walkway does not permit strollers.... More

This was a great little afternoon trek a little bit outside Annecy. It's a nice jaunt along a well maintained walkway with some truly beautiful rock formations. There's also a nice little history/geology lesson along the route. Don't forget to look for the faces.

Impressive walkway above the gorge and well maintained site. I don't agree with those reviewers who say it's a scam, it's a relative short but beautiful visit and fun for children, and I think the maintenance of the ancient walkway justifies the 5 euros ticket. You can borrow a baby carrier since strollers are not admitted.

A nice side trip from Annecy though difficult to find due to lack of adequate signage. This walkway bult along the side of the cliff was safe and afforded a great view of the gorge and the small river runnning through it. Not difficult for children over 5 or seniors. Small snack bar and parking available.

About 20 minutes outside of Annecy, but worth the trip. Make sure to buy the combo pass for Gorges du Fier and the nearby Chateau to save a few Euros at the entrance. Narrow, shaky walkways are suspended high above the river for a white-knuckled walk through the gorge.
