A truly amazing building, incredible use of Catholic Church resources! I loved the view, and am in awe of the spectacular building.

A truly amazing building, incredible use of Catholic Church resources! I loved the view, and am in awe of the spectacular building.
The Basilique is located about a km from the Vieux Port. However, it is a long and steep climb, as it is situated on a hill top. The church itself was beatiful, and the view is probably the best in Marseille.
Well worth the walk from the old port to the church. The best way we found was to walk up Rue Fort-Notre-Dame from the port and follow the signs. There are great views from the top, and the recently refurbished church is interesting inside.

loved the ride up on the little tourist train, well worth the 8 Euros, the views of Marseille are beyond words and the church itself is so beautiful, take a good camera

Thank Goodness I went up the Hill to see this place! It is worth a thousand visits and more!! I got dropped off at The Panier in Marseille, where almost everyone goes to! From a distance, a magnificent looking Palace over towered the entire city, this was something I had to see. So I took the train from The Panier,...
