This was my first experience in France with a Cathedral and it was the first thing I saw as I came into Bayeux. Walked all around it in the evening and went back the next day to go inside. Ate lunch right under it-fantastic.

located in the center of this medieval city this cathederal has a rich history and beautiful stained glass windows - if you can this cathederal deserves a visit.
This magnificent cathedral is typical of so many French cathedrals - stone columns and stained glass. Some interesting paintings, plenty of candles to light and a timeline showing Roman Emperors, Popes etc. worth seeing if you like churches.
You cannot stay in Bayeux without visiting the cathedral. It was a beautiful example of the architecture. I enjoyed the visit.

Beautiful! Definitely must see it, especially floodlit in the evening, it's more beautiful than Notre Dame Catherdral in Paris!
Bayeaux is a lovely city. We debated long and hard about staying in Bayeaux or Caen... I'm so glad we picked Bayeaux. I was not expecting the Cathedrale, but when we arrived late in the afternoon, there it was you couldn't miss the outline against the dark blue sky. We did hear the organ which sounded just lovely
France is blessed with many truly magnificent Cathedrals, this i thought is not one of them. But still very good if you like this sort of thing. Excellent stained glass. As you are here for the Tapestry you may as well see the Cathederal as its free to enter so you have nothing to loose.
I am not inspired or cowed by the grandeur of mighty religious buildings, but one must be impressed by the size and decoration of this cathedral. The sheer size is awesome. There are some wall paintings and decorations worthy of note.
We were able to hear the organ in full voice and a choir , which made the experience more...
