We were disappointed with the Jardins. They were not very well kept, closed before midday and nearly half were under renovation. Not worth the visit. The Place Royale 200 metres further up at the top of the hill were infinitely better.

A bit disappointing - in fairness it is being renovated but I felt the whole area was neglected and did not live up to what I thought it would be. Not worth the time if time is short
Was there today it was beautiful! Great place to sit down with friends, or to bring a book. Many different plants, flowers and trees. It's a very calming athmosphere. Will visit again!
Within easy walk of the old city, the Jardin des Plantes is a good, quiet place to sit down and relax.
Montpellier is hot in the summer - and this is a spot of green just at the edge of the old city walls. Walk it from the Comédie in 10 minutes. Once there, you'll find ... plants! Great place with some lovely scenery. Some more explanation about the plants etc would have been appreciated but we still enjoyed our trip there. Great for a picnic!
This is a lovely garden filled with plants and beautiful flowers. There is loads of places to sit and take in the scent of the flowers. It is an oasis of peace and quiet. Just lovely
This is one of (if not the) oldest botanical gardens in France. I visit it weekly, and the changes are wonderful to see as the various plants bloom. There are the various plantings, but I like the pond with water lilies, koi, turtles and frogs. It is a quiet oasis in the heart of the city, and it is free....

We were disappointed half the garden is cordoned off as its being renovated, but it is in sore need of some TLC so good thet they are doing it! A wonderful garden with ancient trees ruins and different habitats including a parterre, pine walk and huge lily pond. Watch out for hornets in the paving!
Sadly, many specimens were struggling for survival after an exceptionally hard frost as evidenced by the dead palm trees etc in other parts of the city.
Whereas a park in Britain would have been a riot of colour at this time of the year, in fact the overall effect was drab. However, botanically, it was amazing! A wonderful collection of...
