A second visit. The Monets are fine. The Laurencin exhibit was extensive but convinced me she was a minor artist at best. The historic rooms of the house, with Morisot downstairs and nice Napoleonic material upstairs, are wonderful.

This museum is a bit off the beaten path and well worth the trip to get to it! The museum is in a well preserved mansion and the art is well entwined with historical attributes of the home. The Monets were amazing! Be sure to venture into the basement area where there is a neat exhibition space where there was...

Anyone who has ever enjoyed a Monet painting will love this gallery including Monet's little delight which gave Expressionism its name.
I loved this museum which featured a lot of Monet and a special exhibit of Marie Laurencin. While many museums in Paris are closed on Tuesdays, this one was open. If you like Monet, it's well worth a visit.
This is one of our favorite small museums in Paris! In the 16th arrondissement so requires metro travel. When in Paris, we almost always visit Musee Marmottan for this is one of our favorite museums in the world! Small, intimate, and immensely charming.
We stop in a cafe between the metro and the museum for a cafe cream, and then...

This estate museum is tucked away in my favorite arrondissement {or district,Paris has 20 of them} the 16th located on the other hill in the western edge of Paris. There is a nice park just across the street where many enjoy a relaxing time usually with a picnic lunch spread out before them. The architecture of the buildings surrounding the park...

The Musee Marmottan Monet is supposed to have the largest collection of Monets in the world, over 100. But at the moment, they only have about 15-20 of not very good ones on display as the majority of them are on loan in Australia. And they dont tell you this beforehand!
So... do not bother trekking all the way out...

We spent 45 mins on the bus then a walk through the rain to see the Monets rather than face the crowds in the Orangerie or Musee d'Orsay. Only when we had paid and got inside were we informed that most of the Monets were on loan to an exhibition in Australia. No apology, no offer of a refund and...

When I visited in 2010, there were nearly 100 Monets on display in the lower basement. It was wonderful, i was in love. In June 2013 there were only 25 Monets on the first floor, while the basement featured a visiting artist. Very disappointing.
Good stuff here, but many displays were flawed by too much glare from the windows. Lots of Monets, but overall it cannot compare to the impressionists in the Orsay or the huge Monet murals at the Orangerie. This is in a neat residential neighborhood, near the huge park.
