These gardens were not very well signposted once you got off the Wexford-Rosslare road. The entry fee was very small. The first thing you hear is the noise of peacocks on the castle roof, and there were a dozen more in the courtyard where there is a pleasant cafe. Lots of things to see. Ideal for a picnic!

I visited the gardens on a very cold, wet April day but even the weather could not detract from these beautiful, tranquil, gardens.I took a walk around two of the three lakes but the weather defeated me from walking too far in the extensive wooded grounds. I will return when next in the area if there is better weather. Because of the rain... More

Visited this spectacular 19th century castle, grounds and gardens on Saint Patrick's Day. We decided to go early to avoid any crowds but by doing so we missed out on the Agricultural Museum which doesn't open until 12 during the months of November to March. A perfect place for the whole family to enjoy with its Peacock Tearoom and Museum... More

We have visited the Museum and gardens on a few occasions. The most recent was in February 2013 when we wanted a walk on a day that was windy and showery, but with intermittent sunshine. The Castle of course is magnificent, but the series of lakes in the winter sunshine passes magical. The are many mature old trees. We are... More

Today was an outing with the dogs, Johnstown Castle is a great place to bring them, keep them on the lead, but are welcomed. We walked around the walled garden, castle and grounds, they wished for a swim in the lake, but didnt want a wet dog smell in the car. We stopped off in the Museum Cafe, well outside... More

We are local to Johnstown Castle and always purchase the season ticket for entrance to the gardens during the summer. However, today was our first visit to the Agricultural Museum. I always had an impression, based on a few items that can be seen from the entrance, that the museum wouldn't be worth a visit but I was entirely wrong!... More

We visited Johnstown Castle on a rainy day this summer but even the rain could not take away from our enjoyment of the visit. The museum is really very good and it follows the development of farm machinery and other modes of transport through the ages. There is also a really good section on the famine in Ireland complete with... More

Simply pleasant trip with amazing surroundings. Bring some bread to communicate with those peacocks if you wish to :) Very nice castle although you can only enjoy it from outside, you can see it from many perspectives!
