You can get there by conventional methods but we elected to take the jaunting carts around the national park which had magnificent views and wonderful gardens. WE were dropped off at Ross Castle where we took some motor boats out across the lake. It was a glorious day so the open motor boats were ideal but I think that they... More

Went for a walk around Muckross gardens, they looked well in spite of the wind and rain. We went in for a coffee and the choice of delicious cakes and desserts was extensive. Had a lovely coffee and cake and looked at the birds - they were so people friendly coming down and eating up all the crumbs.

May was the perfect time of year to visit Muckross House and gardens. The rhododendrons were in full bloom- amazing color!! A visitor can spend the entire day walking around the grounds and visiting the Torc Waterfall. Don't miss this.

The kids wanted to go see the farm in the grounds (you pay to enter farm and also the house) but it was closed , farm only opens 1-6 which... More

We took the jaunty carts and it rained. Ours didn't have sides so I wasn't happy. Others loved it. House itself ok but no photos allowed. :-( the grounds are quite lovely.

We took the tour led by well informed tour guides. It was interesting to hear the history. The gardens were beautiful. Worth visiting.

Maintained by the Department of Arts Heritage you were treated to a view of the past as actors fed and entertained you. The food and wine was passable but the entertainment was enjoyable. Better food would have made for better value.

Beautiful gardens and a very impressive interior. The guide (Mary) provided a very vivid and understandable tour experience.

muckross gardens was magnificent, the lawns were like putting greens all the way dow to the lake, but due to the restoration on the external part of the front of the mansion, with all the scaffolding and workmen,we could not take pictures of this magnificent mansion.

The best part of Muckross is the gardens, which are extensive and beautifully landscaped, set on the shores of the lake. We did not visit the historic working farm, entry to which costs extra. The self-service restaurant is OK. The house itself is interesting enough, but the tour we were on (compulsory) had about 30 people, which was about twice... More
