This place is very festive. Good music, great crowd participation and friendly staff. Learn yourself some Irish drinking songs and sing a long.
We were lucky enough to get a decent spot around the corner from the first set of live music on a Friday night in November. They don't use any amplification for the music, so you'll either need to get close or hope there's not a huge group of tourists between you and the music who don't seem to care about... More
this place was so packed the night before that my husband and I decided not to venture into the fray so to speak....but we did return, looking for a quiet lunch the next day. No remnants of the previous night were apparent and our lunch was nice. I had a quick chat with one of the staff...an older man who... More
We came to Galway looking for traditional Irish music. We were advised by the bouncer at the King's Head that Taaffe's is the place. He was right. We went to Taaffes to experience some live Irish music. We got that for sure, along with about half of Galway it seemed. Many many many people crammed into that little bar, and there were probably too many people in there. A few tiny toilets. However the pub is cute and has a great atmosphere and the music was good:-)
My wife and I are currently having a great time in Taaffes Bar. The beer is reasonably priced, the wait staff is friendly, and the traditional Irish music is terrific! What more could you ask for in Galway?
This pub gets too packed at night when there is music on and its nearly impossible to scramble to the tiny toilets. In an emergency I would not like to be the furthest away from the exit. I am sure they let much more people in than should be allowed by law....Not the most friendly pub in Galway as the... More
Very good homemade soup (lunch special) and Irish soda bread. Very good size portions. Great prices. Friendly staff. Cozy pub in the heart of the pedestrian shopping area.
The staff were very friendly, but the place was a little grubby and the music was eh. We did like that it was no where near as crowded as other locations. I would be willing to try it again since the staff were so nice though.
