We truly had a wonderful night at St. Nicholas' Collegiate Church. So different to the commercialized and tourist oriented "pub sessions" that we usually attend. The music was fantastic, and we really enjoyed the Irish Sean nós dancing. We felt that it was "the real deal" What made it special for us was the interaction on the night. The host... More

Entertaining, great atmosphere, brilliant variety of traditional music. It was a very enjoyable experience all round. We had a wonderful evening and would definitely go again. I would highly recommend it.

This concert was exactly what I was looking for. the music was outstanding and the musicians seemed very enthusiastic and full of life. there was a great variety of traditional music to be heard with different types of styles and tunes. we were very lucky as on the night they had a dancer (sean-nos). she was a brilliant dancer and... I planned on visiting this experience in Galway last week. When I showed up, the place was dark. I happened to see someone entering the church a few minutes later and asked which entrance was the right ones for Tunes in the Church. Turns out this only occurs in summer! Their website made no mention of this. I wouldn't have... More

I was really looking forward to this experience as I had read the glowing reviews of other travellers but am unable to honestly give it a rating as when we turned up there was no traditional music happening, but a meditation prayer group taking place for Lent. It would have been useful if this information was put on their website... More

The tunes I heard were in St Nicholas Cathedral beside the old market place, near Sheridans cheese shop (now that is one awesome cheeseshop) the venue is just so historic, the music I heard there was world class

This was Definitaly one of the highlights for my trip I Ireland. The music and interaction with the musicians was wonderful and the church was a beautiful place to hear some truly great traditional Irish music and a little extra with the nordic sounds we heard as well! Thank you very much Cormac!

The ambience and accoustic of this medieval church combined with the best of music blows me away! It's quiet and comfortable, not commercialised and Touristy. You get to hear the best of the real thing, you get to ask questions, meet and talk to the musicians. Stories, songs, dancing. but not staged, v natural.

Wonderful surprise as we did not know what to expect when we bought the tickets. Cormac, a wondeful concertina musician, welcomed the audience, asked and answered questions all while playing beautifully. The trio that followed him, renowned banjo player, fiddle/guitarist, guitarist/singer were wonderful. The acoustics in the church were awe-inspiring. This was a true high point of our trip to... We saw Cormac Begley concertina and baritone concertina, Brendain Begleyaccordion and singer, Breanainn Begley – guitar. Purchased a CD with Cormac Begley & Jack Talty –who also plays the concertina. Excellent performance
