Truly excellent guided cemetery tour. I wasn't sure when we first arrived - who wants to spend money to be taken around a gloomy graveyard?! But I'm so glad we did. A fascinating spectrum of Irish history. The contrast between DeValera's grave and Michael Collins' speaks volumes. Our guide was brilliant, and as so many other reviewers have commented, not... I was lucky enough to be invited to a military tour of the cemetery organised by a cousin of mine Eric Cosgrove (also a tour guide). The tour cost €6 and was worth every cent. The guide was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. He answered questions with ease and was obviously passionate about his job. The tour lasted for over 1.5... More

We visited Glasnevin Cemetery in February 2012 initially for a funeral. We then went into the lovely cafe and had some nice tea and cake. We then went and walked around and visited in particular Michael Collins' Grave. It stands to the right of the entrance beside the cafe and is beautiful and poignant. Fresh flowers are placed here at... More

The tour of the cemetary had about fifty participants but there was no issue with hearing the very informative guide, and plenty of time was given so everyone could see the details of the graves being discussed. A fascinating way to understand much of modern Irish history. Most of the tour is on wide flatish paths so suitable for wheelchairs,... More

Our guide Niall was friendly and informative and while delivering really interesting facts and figures he was able to tell the emotional stories behind the history. Something that alot of other attractions and guides can miss. I think the museum is a testament to Irish pride and everyone should experience it. An excellent museum with friendly and knowledgeable staff. More

This large cemetery is a must-see if you have any interest in Irish history, especially the last turbulent 100 years. All the major people are buried here, including Michael Collins and Brendan Behan. Its also worth hunting for the burial place of Gerard Manley Hopkins, in the Jesuit section on the outskirts of the cemetery. He's just a name on... More

This place is drenched in so much history you could spend a lifetime visiting and still not see everything. Every grave tells a story and of course alot of famous people from the 1916 rising are buried here as well as political leaders but its the graves with whole families buried in the one plot that really tell stories. The... More
