An absolutely fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Totally absorbing while learning about the personal stories of our past history. Bridget our guide told us she used to play in the cemetery as a kid, so her stories were very personal, but as guide, she was brilliant & very knowledgeable. I would particularly recommend this trip for anyone interested in... More

Did not expect this to be a highlight of the day but our guide through the cemetery was very knowledgable . His description of the individuals buried there and the history behind why they were famous made it a very interesting tour. Not something that comes to mind when thinking of cemeteries but if you have an interest in Irish... More

A great facility and a most interesting afternoon, well organised and a very nice coffee shop. The guided tour offered an insight into many aspects of Irish history. Our tour guide Niall was first class. A visit to the Museum rounded off a nice afternoon. Well worth a visit.

We went to see this huuuuge cemetery on a brilliant sunny day and could study Irish history by reading about many famous heroes who were buried here. The museum is unique.

We took the afternoon tour in early May. This tour was quite enjoyable and informative. The tour guide's knowledge of the cemetery and history of Ireland was very impressive.

I was very impressed with this visit and discovering some more of the fascinating history. Visited on a pleasant sunny morning so ideal for walking around. The audioguide costing a few € was an informative accompaniment. There are about 1.5 million people buried here with over 700,000 in unmarked graves. Even though the vast majority of graves belong to ordinary... More

went back for my second tour/visit but my first time in the museum downstairs, six euro entry fee is a rip-off, very very small museum with very little on display, so not worth six euros, they should seriously think of reducing the fee if not getting rid of it altogether. the tour on the other hand is well worth the... Very organized and friendly. Was able find an unmarked grave dating back to 1837. No headstone or other marker. The geneology addition was worth the trip. We are now in the process of adding a stone marker that is long overdue. The tour (with guide) indicated many famous Irish dignitaries. Park across the street from the main entrance (2 euros/day),... I lived in Dublin for 21 years without knowing what an interesting place Glasnevin Cemetery is. So I returned as a tourist and had my eyes opened. The simple truth is that anyone who was anyone in Irish history, art or life is buried here. Our tour began with an actor in uniform giving us the words of Padraig Pearse... More
