A very eclectic collection of items to make a visit interesting and very worthwhile as are the Botanic Gardens with the Palm House and the Tropical Ravine behind the museum. The Government Collection of paintings are there until the 9th of June. This is a fantastic opportunity to see marvellous paintings from the 16th century up to the present day.... More

Recently visited the museum, not having been there since a primary school trip, which I can assure you was a very long time ago! Very impressed, well arranged and a great day out for the family! Coffee shop could be improved but there are lots of other dining options nearby!

Well laid out and free entry which is always a bonus. Really enjoyed our hours spent there on a wet Sunday afternoon.

The exhibits are well laid out and it's obvious a lot of thought has been given to the layout of the museum. Each area is self explanatory, and follow logically from the one before. It traces the history of the area from the first inhabitants through to the current day.

Lovely museum in the botanic gardens, wonderfully laid out and with hands on activities for children (and not only children!). Definitely worth a visit!

Lots of history of the troubles and the ship building heritage. Helpful staff ready to direct and explain the exhibits. The separate art exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci drawings was very interesting.

My kids love this place and we should have visited it more often. It is free (but please be generous with your voluntary donation to keep this place going) and there is lots to see for adults and kids. There is a real eygtian mummy and there are lots of natural stones/gems and also a nature section where there were... More

Very easy to get around with the pram. We went for lunch first which was totally stress free and then onto the museum. I can't believe it is still free! My little girl loved the minerals and birds. She also spent a good ten minutes staring up at the inflatable dogs-a must do for a drizzly day in Belfast.

This is an interesting museum with an eclectic collection of art and artifacts. It gives an overview of the history and culture of Belfast. You can spend hours there or just breeze through the place and enjoy what it has to offer. It is located next to the wonderful botanical gardens which are worth wandering around.

The Museum is very interesting but not overwhelming. I visited when there was an exhibition of government art work - including contemporary and royal portraits. Would be popular with kids due the dinosaurs and large stuffed animals.
