I have visited the lighthouse area on numerous occasions and it never fails to impress with its natural stunning beauty. A visit to the Lighthouse alas is not the for the feint hearted as there are over 400 steps leading to a causeway bridge to negotiate so thats over 400 down and then again back but well worth a visit...

Visited here as a child and brought back many happy memories. Weather was lovely so got brilliant views.
After arriving at the rspb visitor centre we were asked if we had thought about going to the lighthouse which isn't run by the rspb but they promote it. What a place ! Great for children and the staff again are wonderful. A long walk but really worth a visit.
First of all as others have mentioned there are a LOT of steps. But you can pause and admire the stunning views whilst secretly getting your breath back. We are only average fitness and managed it ok.
It can be windy and cold so take a coat or something. So having said that, the place is awesome in the sense...

We had great weather, and had fantastic views for miles, great idea to have the bird watching building, there were RSPB people on hand to give you information.
Well worth the effor to visit. Spectacular views from the cliff tops.You have to be pritty fit to get down to the island. There are some 360 steps to decend and then climb back up. It's a bird watchers paradise.
Absolutely fantastic well worth a visit had a beautiful day there weather brilliant and also met cameraman filming for springwatch
We have just got back from an absolutely brilliant day out. Our two boys (aged 10 and 7) loved it. We did leave our 2 year old at home with relatives, as we thought the steps and walk down to the lighthouse would be too precarious for a toddler ... and we were right to do so!! Glorious sunshine helped...
