We just went over and back, great views of the harbor and it gives a good feel for what the approach to the castle must have been like in the old days. Impressive.
Worth every penny of the small fee to view a place where a family lived all those years ago! three rooms, who slept where or did they all sleep in the main room by the fire I suppose we'll never know. the engineering is astonishing for the age they know what they were doing back then.
We parked by the bridge and walk across to get to the castle. If you pay a pound you can go in the gate house a see where 2 adults and 4 children lived. The house has only got 3 rooms so where they slept is a mystery. The bridge is one of Thomas Telfords design. It is national trust... More

It's only £1 to go onto the bridge, so well worth a look. Great place for taking some top photos on a sunny day. Only downside is the National Trust man taking your money wants to talk your ears off trying to sell you NT Membership!

It has a span of 326ft (100m) and still has its original chains of wrought iron, each link eight feet long, each boiled in linseed oil to... More
Great and spectacular construction. Well preserved. Pity about the boxed in railway bridge adjacent. Sublime to the ridiculous
This medieval inspired bridge is nice to see but it is located in the middle of modern bridge and a train bridge!
