Wonderful place to visit, to learn more about the history of Worcester. You can choose from the 1400-1800's to listen to the history of the Commandary.
We chose to go through the house listening to the Civil war period, and it was so interesting, it was almost like being part of the war! A lovely house and gardens to wander...

Very Interesting English Civil War museum. The building itself has some very interesting rooms, and the thought of this being a major hospital during the battle of Worcester is quite scary. The grounds are well worth spending some time in. Interesting venue for Shakespeare at the Commandery (July?), outdoor picnic performances make a pleasant evening.
The staff are all extremely friendly, but that's about all that can be said for The Commandery in Worcester. It is a building that has had a chequered career - spanning as it does a monastic hospital to a print works and lots in between. It has a tremendous amount of potential as a wonderful museum, but unfortunately some bright...

I loved the concept that you could get the history of the building in whichever timezone you wished to listen to.
Quality of exhibits, space to move around easily, not stuffy like museums used to be, easy to learn from.
There wasn't much to see and quill making was awful - you paid extra for a feather and there was no one to really help or bring the activity alive. Lots of rooms were empty and the signage was poor. The only good thing was Samuel Pepys - I wouldn't go back. The boys were 4 and 6 - My...

There is an audio accompaniment with the tour, which is based on several levels of the building's history. By pressing different buttons commentary is received on,say, a merchant wool man's view of mediaeval history and Prince Rupert's orders to his army during the ECW. Excellent idea and the opportunity to both dress up and try writing with a quill is...

A quirky little museum with lots of opportunities to discover Worcester. Free to Worcester residents - take a recent utility bill - and keep a look out for any regularly changing exhibitions.
We visited the Commandery with a group of children and they loved the activities, especially the calligraphy. There is plenty of history for the adults. The building has been there for so many centuries, and had so many uses over the years, the audio commentary, following the different uses over the years, was excellent.
