Interesting musuem but felt more could have been done to engage the visitor - the cinema was cute - history of Leeds or what was on show at the museum would have been good.
We came across Armely Mills Industrial Museum during a walk along the canal from the city centre. The admission fee was very reasonable so we decided to go in. We spent at least two hours there, and could have stayed longer as there was lots to see and plenty of information about the different local industries. The locomotives were particularly... More
This is a very pleasent place to spend on hour or two. Visited on a wednesday afternoon and it was very quiet. The exhibits are very interesting and you get a real sense of what it must have been like when it was a working mill. The mill is on a number of floors but there is a lift. There... More
Steam steam and more steam and the smell of the old mill section reminds me of when my mother worked at Wolsey mills stanningley
Paid a visit here yesterday, seemed quite empty for a Saturday. £6.70 for 2 to get in so no issue there, we joined a tour just starting explain process from wool to cloth, interesting and engaging. After the tour we we're left to explore. The rest of the museum is somewhat confusing in its layout and was devoid of any... More
Came here today with my son as have been meaning to visit for a while. Entrance price was very cheap and there are loads to see. It is over a few floors so takes a good hour at least to get round. Had a demonstration on the machinary which my son found great. Loved the old style cinema and my... More
This is an amazing museum. You can see here the "spinning Jenny" and other inventions of the Industrial revolution. You can spend here almost a day if you want. But the tickets are cheap, so you can also visit again. I think this is the best museum of Leeds. There is so much to see!
Lots of interesting information giving an insight to the history of the area and the lives of the people living in West Yorkshire. I loved the demonstration of the machinery.
What an hidden gem in Armley. So much of our history is on display showing Leeds in earlier centuries. Great setting and you can even bring a picnic. Ensure you have plenty of time to really appreciate the exhibitions.
I have lived in Leeds for ten years and, shamefully, only just got round to visiting the industrial museum. I am glad I did. The place gives a feel of industrial life in Leeds and how the many factories operated. I particularly loved the early 20th century cinema and the short film on the history of Leeds. Who would have... More
