In the heart of Coventry city centre, this huge Museum is home to the world’s largest collection of British road transport, and a visit whisks you away into a world of stories of real people, real passions and real hope. You’ll discover the stories behind the people who made Coventry the centre of the world’s motor and cycle industries, and get up close and personal with the actual vehicles that defined some of history’s most important moments. The Museum is laid out as a journey through time – you’ll wander 19th Century streets and discover the first bicycles, carriages and cars, then explore the first car factories and gasp as you witness their wartime destruction in the Blitz Experience. The journey continues through the Boomtown, Spirit of Speed and Ghost Town galleries to bring you right up to the present day.A visit to the Museum brings you face to face with Royal cars, military vehicles, and cars that played vital parts in their drivers’ life stories – none more so than the current Land Speed Record holding vehicle, ThrustSSC, which lives at the Museum. Not only can you marvel at this spectacular piece of British engineering, you can experience for yourself what it’s like to travel through the sound barrier at over 760mph in the ThrustSSC Simulator. « less

Always something new to see, holiday activites for children, lovely cafe with occasional live performers, all of Coventry's impressive motoring history and magnificent displays of the world land speed record and Thrust. Frequent new displays, for example Coventry in the Blitz, and emergency vehicles. Large outside area for specialist car club meetings etc with big screen television. Location excellent for... More

We visited the Museum just as a something to do on a rainy day. It was Excellent, free to get in, much larger inside than it appears and absolutely packed with history. Our 8 and 5 year olds both loved it (which says something) and I personally could have spent another day there. there is a Thrust SSC exhibition which... More

A huge collection of cars and vehicles from classic tv show cars to the past and future located in a great museum in the heart of Coventry. There is lots to see and do ( activities and interactive displays and a great souvenir shop too. ) Best of all and quite rare these days for a place like this -... More

The whole place was so interesting and best of all, it was FREE (although they did request donations, which we happily gave as we were leaving). There was a wide variety of vehicles from small cars to fire engines, ambulances and even a tanker to the earliest of bicycles, motor scooters and motor cycles. One section which we particularly enjoyed... More

It's easy to forget about the Transport Museum, but I can't recommend it highly enough. Free admission with literally hundreds of exhibits ranging from specialist displays (such as the vehicles from the movie Prometheus) and the Doctor Who Exhibition from a few years back - through to a recreation of the Coventry Blitz and Thrust 2, and an excellent history... We have visited before but it has all changed and is now better than ever. I have been to museums that have charged a considerable amount but none as good as this. There is a clear route to follow that ensures you miss nothing out, but nothing to stop you skipping any parts if your time is limited. We spent... More

From the outside it looks very small, but get in and it expands to enormous. Hundreds of exhibits, including the Thrust cars, veterans, vintage, recent/modern day, F1 and rally cars, wartime exhibits, etc, etc. I had to be coaxed out by my wife, with the promise of food. Don't miss it. It can be free entry, with a suggested donation... More
