I have JUST returned from three nights at the Chapel and felt I had to write this immediately upon my return. In fact, I have been composing this review since the minute I set foot outside the Chapel. Actually, make that as soon as I set foot onto the grounds of Walcot Hall! In all honesty, despite the fact that... More

Stayed in the campsite behind the Powys Arms pub £5 pppn. Toilet block with showers. Pub food available apparently, we just had BBQs. Linked to the Walcot Hall estate with its amazing arboretum. Not far from quaint towns with decent food pubs, The Longmynd Hills, Ludlow etc. Really nice place, recommended.

From the moment you pull into the drive your breath is taken away by the sight of the showmans, yes it looks a little tired paint wise, but the inside is fab. Newly painted in traditional style. the place is spottless with crisp white cotton sheets and a log burner ready to fire up for a cosy night in playing... More

We got married at Walcot Hall in march 2013. We were shown around by Julia who was very helpful throughout the entire run up to the wedding and on the day itself. We liked the quirkiness of the place, te accomodation on site and the value for money. About 60 guests or so stayed on site- in apartments, "hidden treasures"... More

We stayed in the red showman's caravan in April 2013. The caravan looks nothing like the brochure picture, the exterior is really shabby. Either they have good photoshop software or the picture was taken 30 years ago. However, the inside is clean, roomy and 'quaint'. It would definitely benefit a new mattress and perhaps a small fridge. We left our... More

Our daughter booked Walcot Hall for her wedding weekend and all our family and most of our friends were accommodated there in holiday cottages and apartments. We stayed in Berkeley apartment which was first class and more than large enough to celebrate with 60 guests the night before the wedding and to serve breakfast to another 40 on the morning... More

Stayed in the Dipping Shed which has to be seen to be believed, as does the rest of the place. Very quirky but in a good way. Loads of different types of accommodation available New Showmans Caravan to Yurts, to The Chapel, to a Fire Truck (I kid you not) and more. The dog's favourite spot was the Arboretum, which... More

We stayed in the Dipping Shed for the weekend in September for a friend's wedding. The Dipping Shed was a great quirky hideaway for the weekend, the living space was spacious and complete with a log burning stove for a cosy evening of cards and wine. There was absolutely no phone signal so be prepared if you rely on being... More

We hired the Chapel, a small wooden Scandinavian looking chapel hidden in the woods behind the house, for a week, culminating in our friends wedding in the stately home. With a wood burning stove, kitchen and a bathroom, it was a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Initial horror of finding out there was no mobile coverage turned into a... More

We have just returned from a mid week break in the Chapel at Walcot Hall. The whole experience was fantastic. Having parked in the stable yard, we followed the sign to the "Haunted House", a steep flight of steps and a creaky gate takes you into the arboretum. We walked through the canopy of rhododendrons and followed the signs to... More
