Even if you are not a gardener (or, as in my case, do not even have a garden) this place is worth a visit. Wander through the glass houses, get amazed by some giant (and some tiny ) plants and trees. Visit the favorite tree of Tolkien. And learn.

We visited during an exceptionally late spring so there was relatively little to see outside the glasshouses. Nonetheless this is a beautiful spot by the river and a pleasant place to sit and maybe picnic. The charge is just about acceptable at £4. A visit to Oxford as a tourist comprises so many of these modest charges however that you... More

Ok it's not the height of summer but on a cold April day this garden wasn't worth any more than £2 to walk around it

We used to visit many years ago when our children were toddlers. I remember it being a lot bigger, with access to the Meadows. Or maybe my memory is failing me. We have had a slow start to Spring this year so no stunning displays. I sure it will be better in the Summer - and better value for the... More

At £4 each for adults you can spend a few easy hours here especially if the weather is good and the hothouses are an educational experience for kids as they have most common and uncommon plants in which provide our food, cosmetics, spices etc - not often you come across a breadfruit tree or a cinnamon tree in Wigan so this... The gardens were a bit sparse at this time of year, but I liked the models of chemicals dotted around the beds and the orangery smelt fabulous.

A wonderful retreat to escape to for some time out with some beautiful plants from around the world. Reasonable admission fee that allows you as much access through out the day and the adjoining canal provides much entertainment in the form of struggling gondola drivers fighting to move smoothly across the surface rather than crashing spectacularly into the banks

We visited on a freezing April day and enjoyed the warmth that some of the glass houses gave us. The medicinal plants display was interesting, although many of them have not yet started to grow. We didn't spend long here but it was worth the visit. The loos were clean and warm too!

what can I say? a botanic garden like any other botanic garden: nice morning or afternoon out in the sun if you like plants, boring to death if you are not ...

The garden has a great layout and some fascinating plants. Excellent chilli collection! Good selection of glass houses. An historic centre of significant botanical research.
