Sadly Nottingham has missed the chance to capitalise on the Robin Hood legend. The castle is not even medieval but 18th century. The museum is interesting with a gallery of art and displays of the history of local regiments but not a must see otherwise.

Slightly expensive to get in at just over £5 each. The gardens are well maintained and good views over Nottingham. The museum is reasonably engaging but nothing to shout about. The main reasons to visit are the location and gardens.

Stay away. Maybe great for kids as there is a good play and inter-active area that's about it.! Not much of a castle. just a tourist trap.

The castle was relatively cheap to enter, the grounds are very nice and the art gallery and small military museum were very interesting. Great views of Nottingham from the castle as it is situated high up. Worth the entrance fee, although you have to pay again to access the cave tours. I will be visiting again

The majority of the original castle was destroyed. It is currently used as an art gallery, etc. The views are spectacular.

The Castle was rebuilt in the 18th Century (if I remember correctly), and it is a museum rather than a castle. On the other side, the caves are worth a visit.

If you go to Nottingham Castle knowing that there isn't actually a castle there, but a huge mansion on its site, then you are not disappointed.
